The Immersive Carnival of the Animals in Montreal: A Family Guide to OASIS

Looking for an indoor activity to enjoy with children during your Montreal visit? The Immersive Carnival of the Animals at OASIS Immersion offers a colourful combination of music, projections and interactive installations.

Inspired by Camille Saint-Saëns’ famous musical composition, this exhibition transforms the world of animals and music into a playful environment designed particularly for families.

The exhibition is scheduled to run until November 29, 2026, making it an option for visitors planning a trip in late October or November.

What is the Immersive Carnival of the Animals?

The Immersive Carnival of the Animals is an exhibition at OASIS Immersion, located inside the Palais des congrès de Montréal.

It brings together animal-inspired characters, musical imagery, large-scale projections and interactive elements.

The experience is a co-production by OASIS Immersive Studios and L’Arsenal à Musique. Its soundtrack uses an orchestral recording of the 14 movements performed by the Montreal Youth Symphony Orchestra.

The exhibition is particularly suited to children aged 2–12, although its combination of music, light and visual storytelling is designed to appeal to adults as well.

What will you experience?

The visit is organised into four parts, including three immersive galleries and a creative activity area.

Visitors receive a light-up bracelet and follow an experience that explores the relationship between music, nature and different species.

The journey includes:

  • The Musical Big Bang: an introduction to a colourful world where music and life emerge together.
  • The Survival of Species: an exploration of ecosystems and the creatures that inhabit them.
  • Harmony over Capriccio: a visual and musical environment combining projections, light and an interactive floor.
  • The Harmony Workshop: a creative space with artistic and musical activities and a reading corner.

The complete experience takes approximately 70 minutes.

Is it suitable for young children?

The exhibition is particularly designed for children between 2 and 12 years old.

It can be an interesting family outing, especially if you’re looking for something interactive rather than a traditional museum visit.

Parents and grandparents can accompany children through the galleries and join in the creative activities at the end.

Is it worth adding to a Montreal family itinerary?

If you’re visiting Montreal with children, the Immersive Carnival of the Animals offers a different kind of cultural experience. Its combination of classical music, interactive technology and imaginative visuals makes it a useful alternative to a conventional museum visit.

Its indoor setting is also convenient when planning a day around downtown attractions.

Because the exhibition is scheduled to close on November 29, check availability before making it a fixed part of your itinerary.
